WATCH: Beautiful! Loggerhead turtle spotted happily swimming in Maltese waters
The loggerhead turtle is one of the two turtles that nest in the Mediterranean.

An adult loggerhead turtle has just been seen swimming alongside the coast of Malta!

Gabriel Bugelli was fortunately able to capture the lucky encounter so we could all be able to enjoy the happily swimming turtle.

The loggerhead turtle is one of the two marine turtle species known to nest in Malta and Mediterranean beaches.

One mama loggerhead turtle is in fact, already nesting in Ramla l-Hamra beach in Gozo.

Nature Trust volunteers are keeping an eye on the nest 24/7 to make sure the eggs can hatch as safely as possible!

The turtles also eat loads of jellyfish, so the more in Maltese waters, the better it for beach goers.

Hopefully more turtles hatch their eggs on Malta’s beaches as the summer continues!
