History of Chadwick Lakes
Chadwick Lakes’ origins take us back to the 19th century, when Malta was still under the rule of the British.
At the time, Sir Osbert Chadwick, a British practical engineer, was sent over to our islands to conduct a report about water resources since Malta was facing water management-related issues.
Sir Chadwick had decided that the area presently known as Chadwick Lakes was the best site to construct an artificial lake, thus helping to solve the country’s water management issue.
The lakes collect water from Rabat, Mosta, and other nearby areas, and nowadays this is used by countless farmers to water their crops.
