We always knew Valletta could charm anyone’s pants off. International fashion magazine Vogue is the latest to remark on the beauty of the capital, calling it one of the six places to visit in 2018.
Featuring a photo of the iconic view of the Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St Paul’s Anglican church rising from the bastions, Vogue’s website remarks on the highlights the Maltese islands have to offer “from prehistoric temples to the exquisite medieval city of Mdina - not to mention a shoreline dotted with hidden coves and blue lagoons.”
And with Valletta being named European Capital of Culture this year, it recommends planning your trip “around one of the events scheduled for the coming months”, but also underlined the varied attractions the capital offers all year round. “For an absorbing day of culture at any point in the year, wander through the streets taking in the Baroque architecture before making a pilgrimage to Saint John’s Co-Cathedral. The staggering gilt interiors - and painting of John the Baptist by Caravaggio - never fail to impress.” Indeed.
