UPDATE: Maltese-Aussie boxer Jeff Fenech is recovering well from his major heart surgery
What a champ! Legendary Aussie boxer of Maltese descent, Jeff Fenech is “doing well” following his heart surgery, according to the Facebook page Australian Boxing Central.
“Great to see that all-time Australian boxing legend Jeff Fenech is doing well,” wrote the page. He’s “pushing through the adversity like the true fighter he is.”
The boxing powerhouse had to undergo emergency heart surgery in Thailand after doctors diagnosed him with an infected heart valve. Initially, just a key-hole surgery was planned but it resulted in a five-hour open heart procedure and included lung fluid drainage.
Despite this scary situation, Jeff pulled through and now seems to be in good spirits. We’re totally loving his energy, positivity and determination in the wake of this major turn of events.
