Did you notice the clouds today? Malta is set to experience a shift in weather this week

Did you look up at the sky today and notice the unusual cloud shapes? According to Maltese Island Weather, Malta is currently experiencing a shift in weather and the skies are giving us the first signs.
A blanket of high and mid-level clouds has taken over, marking the beginning of a short spell of instability that had been predicted over a week ago.
One of the most striking features in the sky today is the presence of Altocumulus Castellanus clouds. These clouds are easily identified by their distinct turret-like shapes, almost resembling small towers in the sky.
They’re not just pretty; they’re also important indicators of changing weather. Their formation signals atmospheric instability, a result of warm air near the ground rising rapidly and meeting cooler air higher up.
This change is being driven by a drop in atmospheric pressure moving in from Italy, along with a pool of cold air hovering to our northwest. The current summer heat plays a key role in this process as the warm air rises and interacts with the colder air above.
While it’s still warm on the ground, what’s happening above us is a sign that the atmosphere is becoming unsettled.
So next time you see those puffy, towering clouds, know that they’re more than just a picturesque view...they’re nature’s way of saying, “Something’s changing.”
