Malta is set for a mixed and unsettled week of weather, with showers, strong winds and rough seas dominating the forecast, according to updates shared by the social media page Maltese Islands Weather.

Monday 9th will bring with it isolated showers, which have already started this morning in Gozo, and cool temperatures, with highs reaching around 15°C and lows dipping to 11°C. Winds will blow from the south-southwest to west-northwest, occasionally strengthening, while sea conditions are expected to range from slight to rough.

Tuesday 10th, a public holiday in Malta, will bring isolated light rain, with temperatures edging slightly higher to a maximum of 16°C. However, conditions at sea are forecast to worsen, shifting between rough and moderate. Similar showery conditions are expected on Wednesday, with temperatures climbing to 17°C and moderate to rough seas persisting.

Thursday 12th looks set to be the most unsettled day of the week. Isolated showers remain likely, accompanied by stronger west-northwesterly winds that could reach Force 7 or 8 at times. Seas are forecast to be rough to very rough, and the chance of rainfall increases to 75%.

Ironically, a brief improvement is expected on Friday 13th, with partly cloudy skies and no significant rainfall forecast. Temperatures should peak at 18°C, offering the mildest day of the week. Despite this, winds will stay strong and seas remain very rough to rough.

By Saturday 14th, showers are expected to return, along with cooler conditions and moderate to rough seas.

Overall, it will be a breezy and occasionally wet week across the islands, so keep an umbrella handy and exercise caution at sea, especially later in the week when winds intensify.

Do you have any plans for tomorrow’s public holiday?
