Tuesday 7th July: 1 new imported case of COVID-19 for Malta, as 1 more recovers
Malta currently has the lowest number of active cases in the EU.

Malta has one new COVID-19 cases from 930 swab tests carried out overnight. 

Furthermore, there was 1 recovery reported over the same period of time, leaving the number of active cases stable at 11. Malta currently holds the European Union's lowest number of active cases.

The new case was described by health authorities as a foreigner who resides in Malta and was recently repatriated back to the Maltese Islands.

It is the second imported case reported in a week, with the first one noted on Friday. Last week's case had also arrived in Malta on a repatriation flight.

Flight operator Air Malta had revealed all health and safety procedures had been followed and the aircraft had been duly sanitized.
