Take note! New noise restrictions introduced for commercial boat parties in Malta
These new rules come following complaints from coastal residents.

If you’re heading to a boat party this summer, take note! Commercial boat parties in Malta will now be subject to tighter noise control measures, following updated regulations issued by Transport Malta.

The changes come in response to complaints from residents living along the coast, who raised concerns about disruptive noise levels during summer party cruises.

The new rules require that all music must be completely switched off by 11 p.m. Sound checks are no longer allowed in ports, bays, or harbours. Additionally, when operating close to residential or environmentally sensitive areas, party boats must keep music volume to a minimum.

These regulations were formalised in a revised Notice to Mariners published on the 11th of July, marking the first time that commercial boat parties have been specifically addressed.

These measures aim to strike a balance between Malta’s popular summer nightlife on the water and the rights of residents to peace and quiet in their homes.

Have you ever been on a boat party before?
