Travellers kicked off Malta-bound MSC cruise for not adhering to COVID-19 protocols
The MSC Grandiosa is set to arrive in Valletta tomorrow.
An Italian family has been kicked off the MSC Grandiosa for violating the cruise ship’s strict health and safety protocols. The family deciding to leave their organised excursion and venture off on their own – breaching one of the cruise ship’s rules.
The family reportedly had disembarked at Naples for an organised trip to Capri, but then left the group to sightsee on their own. They were later refused boarding. “By departing from the organised shore excursion, this family broke from the safe 'social bubble' that MSC Cruises created for them to safely enjoy their visit ashore, and therefore could not be permitted to re-board the ship," the company said in a statement.
The MSC Grandiosa is set to arrive in Valletta’s Grand Harbour tomorrow. They are taking their health protocols very seriously to ensure the safety of passengers and crew members. They have a universal health screening in place which includes three comprehensive steps: a temperature check, a health questionnaire and a COVID-19 antigen swab test. Apart from this, rules such as only attending organised excursions and sailing with a 70 per cent capacity to allow for more space on board have been implemented.
