These photos of ancient ruins at Malta’s Dwejra show tranquillity of a life long gone
What a beauty!

One of the best things to do in Malta is probably taking a stroll through the countryside and just taking it all in. Apart from getting some well-needed fresh air, you might come across something interesting, who knows?

If you’re ever in the Dwejra area (in Malta, not Gozo), you’ll probably come across something like this beautiful structure that instantly transports you to a time gone by.

This shot, captured by Maltascapes, shows the old sitting on the ancient (literally). This rubble wall-like structure was once a farmhouse, and the now-ruins were built over and also incorporate an ancient Punic tomb.

The Dwejra area in Malta, while lesser known in comparison to that in Gozo, is a beautiful spot that shouldn’t be overlooked. The country walk starts off from Mgarr and finishes at Mosta in Pjazza Rotunda. It takes hikers through Mgarr, Bingemma, Dwejra Lines and Speranza Valley in Mosta.

The Dwejra country walk is perfect for your weekend adventure, with a distance of 10km and can be completed in about three hours if you’re keeping up the pace, and a little longer (four to five) if you’re taking it as a stroll.

This farmhouse could have been a residential house way back when but could have also been a little country hut to protect farmers and hunters from harsh weather conditions while out in the fields.
