The Gozo Miracle returns! Victoria International Arts Festival kicks off on Friday
Festival will start with an all-Spanish/Latin American concert by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra
The Victoria International Arts Festival, a feast of orchestral, choral and chamber music that Albert Storace has dubbed as “the miracle of Gozo”, will return for its 29th edition this Friday.
This year’s festival will kick off at Teatru Astra with an all-Spanish/Latin American concert by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of British conductor Philip Walsh.
Star soloist Simon Schembri will perform Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez.
Artistic Director, George J. Frendo, said that it will be followed by a series of 30 concerts and cultural events, taking place practically daily until Monday, 13th July.
Big bands, choirs and chamber ensembles featuring musicians from 22 countries (including Malta) will perform in different venues across the Gozitan capital.
One of the most awaited concerts is the al fresco performance by the prestigious Royal Conservatoire Brass of Scotland, which will take place on the stunning rooftop of Il Ħaġar Museum on Thursday 18th June.
