Saint George Preca was born in 1880, and he dedicated his life to spreading Christian teaching and values!
On the 26th July, Malta marks the 63rd anniversary of the passing of Saint George Preca; a beloved spiritual leader, teacher, and the founder of the Society of Christian Doctrine and the MUSEUM movement.
To commemorate the occasion, the Department of Information shared a touching throwback photo of a young girl lighting a candle during a MUSEUM event; a symbolic gesture that echoes the light Saint George Preca brought to generations through faith and learning.
Born in 1880, Saint George Preca dedicated his life to spreading Christian teachings and values, focusing especially on youth education and lay involvement in the Church. His founding of the MUSEUM (Magister Utinam Sequatur Evangelium Universus Mundus – "Master, may the whole world follow the Gospel") created a grassroots movement that empowered ordinary people to live out and teach the Gospel in everyday life.
More than six decades after his passing in 1962, Saint George’s vision continues to resonate across Malta and beyond, with MUSEUM centres still active in forming children and young adults in both faith and community service.
This anniversary serves as a reminder of the enduring power of one man’s mission to inspire light, wisdom, and compassion.
