That's the way to go! A whopping 16,000 tonnes of illegal waste was collected in Malta in 2018
Isn’t that crazy?!

Malta is a real beauty, but keeping the island pristine takes quite a lot of work! And, it seems, we're starting to get our skates on since it was revealed that, last year, 16,000 tonnes of illegally dumped waste was collected over the course of 2018 (though, it begs the question: who is doing the dumping?!).

The Cleansing and Maintenance Division has led the charge, it seems. Indeed, it “does its utmost daily to ensure that our country is kept clean and well maintained, and we are committed to keep on improving our localities for the benefit of our community. Through all of this, we are ensuring safer and cleaner spaces for our families to enjoy and appreciate,” said Minister for Justice, Culture and Local Government Owen Bonnici.

This year alone, by the end of March, the Cleansing and Maintenance Division collected over 4,500 tonnes of illegal waste. Here’s hoping numbers won’t be so high in the coming months! Because, as they say, there’s no Planet B.
