Infrastructure Malta has announced temporary traffic changes as maintenance works are set to take place along the slip road connecting Regional Road in the direction of Birkirkara and Ħamrun.

The works will begin on Tuesday 10th March 2026 and are expected to continue until Friday 10th April 2026. During this period, the slip road will be closed every night from 9:00pm until 5:00am to allow crews to carry out maintenance on the road’s retaining wall.

The closure will not apply on Saturdays and Sundays, when the road will remain open to traffic. The overnight schedule is intended to minimise disruption to daily commuters while ensuring that the necessary works can be completed safely and efficiently.

Drivers travelling in the area during the affected hours are advised to plan their journeys in advance and follow the diversion signs that will be placed along nearby routes.

Will this closure affect your daily commute?

10th March 2026
