As COVID-19 cases in Malta keep increasing, Health Minister Chris Fearne announced the re-introduction of a measure that’s sure to irk some people…

From this Saturday 11th December, mask-wearing in open public spaces is, once again, mandatory.

Speaking at a press conference, Mr Fearne noted that this rule will apply “even if you’re by yourself or with just one more person” – so don’t go looking for loopholes!

Apart from this, the Health Minister also announced that Malta is reducing the time span between the COVID-19 vaccine’s second dose and booster dose to four months instead of six.

Today Malta registered 81 new COVID-19 cases and 107 recoveries, bringing the country’s total number of active cases down to 1,336.

A 64-year-old man also passed away whilst COVID-19 positive in the past 24 hours, increasing Malta’s virus death toll to 469.
