Malta is set for a largely warm and settled start to October, although a few showers could make an appearance as the week progresses, according to the latest forecast by Maltese Islands Weather.

Today on Monday 28th September, the weather will remain mostly cloudy, with temperatures reaching a maximum of 26°C and a minimum of 19°C. The day will also see a 35% chance of rain, although no significant rainfall is currently expected. Winds will be moderate to fresh from the east-northeast to east.

Conditions are expected to brighten on Tuesday, with partly cloudy skies and temperatures climbing to 27°C. Rain risk will drop to 25%, while the sea is forecast to remain slight.

Wednesday looks set to be one of the sunnier days of the week, with mainly sunny conditions and temperatures again reaching 27°C. The rain risk falls to just 15%, making it a promising day for outdoor plans.

The main chance of unsettled weather comes on Thursday, 1 October, when isolated showers are forecast. There is a 55% chance of rain, with between 1mm and 6mm possible, although temperatures will remain warm at around 27°C.

By Friday, the weather should settle again, with partly cloudy skies and temperatures peaking at 28°C - the highest maximum forecast during the six-day period. Saturday will remain partly cloudy and warm, with a high of 27°C.

Despite the arrival of October, summer-like temperatures are therefore expected to linger, with daytime highs consistently between 26°C and 28°C.

The UV index is also forecast to remain at 6 throughout the period, so sun protection will still be important.
