Spring surge! Malta welcomes over 350,000 tourists in April
Malta's spring was definitely buzzing this year!

Malta just had one of its busiest Aprils ever when it comes to welcoming visitors to the islands. With more than 351,000 tourists touching down in just one month, Malta's travel appeal is clearly growing!

April brought with it a 14.6% increase in tourists compared to the same month last year. People aren’t just flying in for a weekend too – they’re staying longer and spending more, with the average visitor staying around 5.7 nights and total tourist spending soaring past €296 million for the month.

Most tourists chose to stay in rented accommodations, like hotels, guesthouses, and short-term rentals, keeping Malta’s hospitality sector buzzing.

Malta remains most popular among tourists hailing from the UK, Italy, and Poland, making up a whopping 46.4% of total inbound tourists.

While most visitors came here for that much-needed sun-drenched escape, a decent number also arrived for business or conferences, proving Malta is just as attractive professionally as it is personally.

Unsurprisingly, the 25 to 44 age group made up the largest slice of the tourism pie – think couples, friend groups, and young families exploring the island, Instagramming their way through Mdina, and sipping spritzes in Valletta.

Over half of all tourists took the ferry to explore Gozo and Comino, whether for the day or an overnight stay. With its slower pace, lush countryside, and crystal-clear waters, it’s no surprise the sister island remains a top choice for visitors looking to unwind or explore Malta’s quieter side.

Between January and April 2025, Malta welcomed over 1 million visitors – a 17% jump from the same period in 2024 – spending nearly €805 million!

Were you one of those who discovered Malta’s magic earlier this year?
