Soothe your soul! Take a tipple at these 5 whiskey bars in Malta
Ice, neat or in a cocktail?

whisky

Whether it’s whiskey or whisky, a good tipple to warm you up is always a good idea. Give your soul a good therapy session with a smooth Irish single malt; think deeper with a peaty Scotch quarter cask; take your taste buds on an oriental journey with a Japanese blend; or liven up the party with a Tennessee classic. Here’s our top 5 spots to get your fix!

StrEat, Valletta

Head to the capital for a couple of hours of good fun, food and drinks at StrEat Whisky and Bistro. With an extensive whisky menu fit for kings, you'll have a hard time choosing. Many of the brands here vie for the title of most complex and satisfying, but a Laphroaig Spiked Sour get our vote. If you’re also looking for a bite to eat go for the whisky-infused Talisker cured salmon; this in-house creation is both smokey and neat.

Alchemy, Valletta

If you’re looking for a bit of class, Alchemy is definitely your go-to. The mixologists in this Valletta based joint create works of art with every cocktail - the flavour, presentation and choice found here is unparalleled. You will definitely give your taste buds a new year’s awakening with their great whisky selection!

Rocco’s Whiskey Lounge, Paceville

Paceville. The home of booze and the home of Hugo’s establishments - all of which have the ability to blow your mind. Rocco’s Whiskey Lounge boasts such potential. With a great selection, and a party-vibe atmosphere, this place is perfect whether early in the evening, or past the witching hour.

Il-Gabbana, Sliema

Sea views, warm blankets and a wind-shielding parasol never tasted better. Great whiskey cocktails find a natural home at Il-Gabbana, on the front in Sliema, where a late morning brunch can seamlessly turn into an afternoon boozing session.

The Black Sheep, Gzira

A pub feel with great food choices; carefully prepared cocktails - using only fine ingredients; and a happy ensemble of staff is what characterises The Black Sheep. The choice is extensive so, depending on how intense the night may look, you could opt to head for the heavy stuff or easy into it with a few vision-impairing cocktails. It's all up to you!
