Say it ain’t so! A chunk of Malta's public holidays will fall on a weekend this year
We can hear the moaning already…

For many workers on the Maltese Islands, it’s back to work after the New Year and Christmas celebrations, and the first thing on the to-do list at the office? Why, check when the next public holiday is of course! (We’re all guilty of it, so shh). Sadly though, it would seem that a good chunk of this year’s public holidays (and by good chunk, we mean roughly half) will be falling on a weekend. All together now: uff!

The public holidays that will sadly be falling on a Saturday or Sunday this year (meaning that office workers will miss out on a day off) include:

1. St Paul’s Shipwreck (Sunday, 10th February)

2. Freedom Day (Sunday, 31st March)

3. The feast of St Peter and St Paul (Saturday, 29th June)

4. Our Lady of Victories (Sunday, 8th September)

5. Independence Day (Saturday, 21st September)

6. The Immaculate Conception (Sunday, 8th December)

That's SIX days off gone with the wind. #Sad

But, on the bright side, as per last October’s Budget announcement, full-time employees will be entitled to a total of 26 days of paid leave, giving employees an extra day of leave this year. Well, I guess that softens the blow a little bit. #ThanksGuz
