Safety first! Air Malta suspends Milan flights following COVID-19 lockdown in Northern Italy
Air Malta announced that all flights to Milan are suspended until further notice due to the Coronavirus outbreak in Northern Italy.
Air Malta wrote in a Press Release that despite the US Centre’s for Disease Control and Prevention and World Health Organisation’s suggestions that flights to Milan need not be aborted, the airline made a different decision: “On consultation with the Prime Minister, the responsible minister and Government agencies, the management of Air Malta has resolved to take this decisive action as a measure of reassurance.”
“The safety of our passengers, crews and staff, and the concerns raised by the people of Malta is our first priority,” the airline said in a statement, adding that it is monitoring the situation closely.
Malta registered its first three cases of Coronavirus over the weekend with an Italian family residing in Malta contracting the dreaded illness during a recent trip to Italy.
Passengers on pre-booked flights to Milan will be notified of the cancellations.
