Running late! Ragusa Xpress launch of Malta-Sicily route delayed with no new timeline announced
The journey from Malta to Ragusa is expected to take around one hour and 45 minutes
Ragusa Xpress, the new ferry service connecting Malta with Ragusa, Sicily, was originally scheduled to launch in September. However, the start has been delayed again, and no new date has been announced. This marks the second delay, as the service was initially planned to begin in late spring but faced setbacks due to issues with permit approvals.
According to the operators, these challenges have continued, despite their intentions to begin operations earlier. They informed Times of Malta that “work is still ongoing,” with the ferry currently stationed at Marina di Ragusa for the installation of ramps for cars and passengers. Preparations are also underway for a sea trial.
The Malta-Ragusa route is highly anticipated, as the ferry is expected to carry up to 430 passengers and 21 cars from Valletta’s Grand Harbour to Marina di Ragusa, in a journey projected to take approximately one hour and 45 minutes.
