Rolling! Check out this nostalgic pic of Gozo's Leo Cinema dating back to the '60s
What was the first film you saw there?

Cinema outings were incredibly popular in Malta during the '60s and '70s and the island saw many film theatres establishment to meet the crazed demand. But what about the sister isle?

The Leo Cinema was one of the most popular film venues in Gozo. Previously owned by the Leone Band Club, the theatre was located in Arċ Mons Saver Cassar Street, close to Victoria's Independence Square, a.k.a. it-Tokk.

The auditorium was reworked as a cinema in 1963, with the first film screened being The Parent Trap (1961). If the name rings a bell, it's because many today are familiar with the 1998 remake of the film featuring child star Lindsay Lohan.

Which film did you enjoy seeing most at the Leo Cinema?

When she’s not having a quarter-life crisis, Caroline is either drawing in a café, frittering her salary on sushi or swearing at traffic in full-on Gozitan. There is also the occasional daytime drink somewhere in the equation. Or two. A creative must be allowed at least one vice.
