The back facade of the palace is set for a facelift while remains found in the wells are being studied. Maintenance work is also being carried out in the sacristy, on the windows overlooking the main staircase and metal railings and Heritage Malta is also currently analysing historic paint layers along the Piano Nobile with the help of paintings conservators and diagnostic scientific laboratories, all with the intent of returning the palace to its original condition.

One of Malta's most important heritage sites, the Palace is also one of the oldest inquisition palaces in Europe and has an impressive number of records of inquisition and civil court judgements.

It is not yet clear when the Inquisitor's Palace, or other Heritage Malta sites and museums, will reopen to the public.
