The Mosta Rotunda has shared some photos of the restoration works currently underway on its iconic dome.
Besides the dome, restoration is also underway on a painting at the Basilica.
One of Malta’s most famous churches, the Mosta Basilica boasts one of the largest unsupported domes in the world.
It is also famous for a remarkable event during World War II, when a Nazi bomb pierced the dome and fell onto the church floor while it was filled with worshippers but did not explode.
Several projects are currently underway at the Mosta Rotunda to enhance the visitor experience, including the opening of a new church museum and the restoration of the crypt.
