When days out no longer revolve solely around beach trips and water sports, you know winter is coming. Before the season ends, make sure you savour the best of summer in Malta with these delicious summer activities.
1. Charter a boat
Don’t go through summer without at least one day out on a boat! Whether you opt to charter a yacht, go for a fishing trip or take a day trip to Comino on one of the cruises, enjoy the unique pleasure of a boat ride and everything that comes with being at sea.
2. Take a break in Gozo
While this is not exclusively a summer thing to do, a weekend break in Gozo during summer allows you to also enjoy its many charms as well as the many beautiful secluded swimming spots and al fresco dinners. Gift yourself the unique pleasure of being a tourist in Gozo.
3. Go to a festa
With summer being the height of the festa season in Malta, September is one of the last opportunities to revel in the delight of the traditional village feast. Come October, these opportunities will become scarce. So go out there and get that dose of fireworks and traditional Maltese sweets!
4. Spend a day at the beach
We’re not talking about the average beach trip of a few hours, but a full blown day complete with deckchairs, umbrella, picnic cooler with your homemade hobz biz-zejt and a favourite book. A visit to a lido with cocktails served by the pool is not a bad option either!
5. Dine al fresco
There's something really enchanting about eating outside, whether it is under the blue cloudless sky or a moonlit one! The fresh air and good company are the best setting for a good meal. Make the most of the temperature before it drops and before you need a jacket while outdoors.
6. Go diving
Don’t let summer go by without enjoying one of Malta’s main attractions: diving. Although not exclusively a summer activity, thanks to Malta’s year-round warm waters, it’s certainly more inviting to dive down under the waves when its warmer!
Of course, there are many more things to do in summer in Malta which you won’t be able to enjoy in winter, but experience these six activities in September and you’ve got the best of a Maltese summer.
