Three records in one historic weekend!

It was a weekend of incredible sporting milestones for Maltese athletes overseas, and Clare McNamara made triple history for Malta!

At just 23 years old, Clare set not one, not two, but three national records during her standout performance at the Big Ten Championships held in Eugene, United States.

Competing in the throws and heptathlon, McNamara delivered a shotput throw of 14.67 metres, a 51.54 metre javelin throw, and an impressive 4907-point total in the heptathlon (a track and field combined event made up of a whopping seven different disciplines), completely resetting Malta’s previous national record in the event.

These latest achievements place Clare among Malta’s most versatile and accomplished athletes. Her 8th-place finish in the heptathlon highlights her incredible all-around talent, covering seven events ranging from high jump and hurdles to sprints and throws.

Her performance followed another standout showing by fellow Maltese athlete Rachela Pace, who also broke two national records in the long jump and triple jump at the American Outdoor Championships in Charlotte.

With both athletes flying the Maltese flag high and proud across U.S. athletics tracks, this past weekend leaves no doubt as to Malta’s place on the map of the sporting world.

A massive well done Clare!
