Gozo is set to come alive with music, culture and opera this October as Opera is Gozo 2026 returns with a programme of performances and cultural activities celebrating the island’s rich operatic tradition.
This year’s programme aims to strengthen Gozo’s reputation as a destination for cultural excellence while welcoming audiences from Malta and beyond.
The highlight of the season will be two major opera productions staged at the island’s historic opera houses.

On 17th October, Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata will take to the stage at the Aurora Opera Theatre, offering audiences the opportunity to experience one of the most beloved and emotionally powerful works in the operatic repertoire.
Later in the month, Giacomo Puccini’s Madama Butterfly will be performed at the Astra Theatre on the 29th and 31st October. The production promises to bring together the opera’s celebrated musical beauty and deeply moving storyline for two memorable evenings.
In addition to the headline productions, the 2026 programme will feature concerts, exhibitions, lectures, recitals and other activities designed to celebrate the island’s artistic legacy and introduce new audiences to the world of opera.
