Spazju Kreattiv has launched its 2026/27 programme, introducing a new season of artistic and cultural activity featuring more than 50 events and initiatives, over 70 artists and creatives, and more than 60 partners and collaborators.

Officially unveiled on Wednesday, 16th September, at Malta’s National Centre for Creativity, the programme brings together a diverse line-up spanning visual arts, theatre, cinema and multidisciplinary practice, building on the momentum of Spazju Kreattiv’s 25th anniversary.

Spazju Kreattiv programme

At the heart of the new season are 12 major exhibitions, more than 15 theatre productions and over 300 film screenings, alongside performances, creative initiatives and multidisciplinary projects. The programme aims to encourage artistic experimentation, collaboration and meaningful engagement between artists and audiences.

International exchange remains a key focus through the Artist-in-Residence (AIR) programme, which will feature four projects bringing together artists from five nationalities and five creative disciplines. These residencies will encourage the exchange of ideas and introduce new perspectives and creative practices to Malta.

Audiences will also have the opportunity to explore the history of St James Cavalier through nine theatrical tours of the building. These experiences will open up spaces that are not normally accessible to the public while highlighting the building’s historical significance and connection to Malta’s wider heritage.

Supporting the development of new talent and creative work continues to be a central priority. Throughout the season, Spazju Kreattiv will launch several Open Calls and organise 16 IKKREA sessions, providing artists and creative practitioners with opportunities to develop their practice, exchange ideas and connect with different areas of the cultural and creative sectors.

With exhibitions, festivals, educational initiatives, art-house cinema and international projects, the 2026/27 season reaffirms Spazju Kreattiv’s role as a year-round hub for creativity and cultural exchange.
