Birgu Fest, one of Malta’s biggest and most beloved annual events, is back on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th October – and it promises to live up to the annual hype!
Over the course of the weekend, thousands will flock to the historic maritime city to celebrate all things Maltese: from culture, crafts, music and traditions, to delicious food, local drinks, live shows and film screenings.
As always, the highlight will be the moment on Saturday evening when Birgu will switch off its electric lights, transforming into a mesmerising candlelit wonderland. The glow of thousands of candles flickering through the narrow streets creates a truly enchanting atmosphere that has become the festival’s signature.
Adding to the experience, historical attractions and museums will be open either for free or at reduced prices, giving visitors the chance to explore Birgu’s heritage while enjoying the festivities. Live performances by local artists will also be spread across iconic locations such as St John’s Tower, Foss ta’ Sur, and the Mandragg area.
More details about performances, events, and activities will be announced soon via the official Birgu Fest Facebook page, so keep an eye out!
