No sign of ‘is-Sajf ta’ San Martin’ this November! Rainy days ahead for Malta & Gozo
If you were hoping for a dose of sunshine and warmth this week, it looks like ‘is-Sajf ta’ San Martin’ has already passed for 2025!
The end of October brought fairly mild (and even warm!) weather, but the upcoming mid-November period – traditionally known as is-Sajf ta’ San Martin – is expected to skip its usual sunny spell this year.
The term refers to a short warm phase that often coincides with the Feast of Saint Martin on 11th November, when high-pressure systems over the Mediterranean typically block incoming storms, giving us calm winds, clear skies, and temperatures slightly above average. It’s Malta’s version of an ‘Indian Summer’ – a brief return to summery conditions before winter settles in.
This time around, however, things are looking decidedly wetter. Starting tomorrow, Wednesday 5th November, the islands are expected to see frequent showers throughout the week, with only a short break of dry but cloudy weather on Thursday. By Friday, rain is expected to return, along with the possibility of thunderstorms, continuing through the weekend and into Monday 10th November.
As is often the case in Malta, the rainfall will likely be isolated, meaning some areas may stay dry while others might see heavy bursts. Still, if you’re planning outdoor activities, it’s worth having a rainy-day backup plan, just in case.
Temperatures will also be taking a dip, with an average high of 21-22°C during the day and lows of 16°C outside - definitely time to pull out some jumpers too!
Are you excited for some rain, or hoping for another warm weekend?
