New supermarket! ARD Discount to open its first Malta store scheduled for September
According to a Google listing, the new supermarket will be located in Mellieha.
Italian supermarket chain ARD Discount is set to open its first store in Malta, with its launch scheduled for the 19th September in Mellieha, according to a Google listing. The store will be located on Triq il-Kbira, very close to Welbee’s Supermarket, also confirmed on a Google listing.
ARD Discount, a joint venture between Italian retailers Ergon and Maiora, operates over 230 stores across Central and Southern Italy, supported by a 40,000 square metre distribution centre.
The supermarket is known for offering a wide range of products, including organic, gluten-free, lactose-free, and vegan options. Popular brands such as Sicilsole, Tesori del Cuoco, Buono and Gusto, Frutti di Frutta, and Prima Scelta will be available, alongside the store’s own budget-friendly product line.
The upcoming Mellieha location was further confirmed by a post on ARD Discount’s international Instagram page, teasing “Big things are coming to Malta.” However, there has been no word yet on whether the chain plans to expand to other parts of the island.
With this opening, ARD Discount adds to the growing number of Italian discount supermarkets in Malta, following in the footsteps of other brands like Eurospin and Risparmio Casa.
