This October, Valletta will host a powerful theatre experience unlike any other. NAĦLIFLEK, directed by Marta Vella and produced by Breach Theatre, brings to the stage the harrowing yet inspiring true story of Artemisia Gentileschi, one of the most formidable icons of the Baroque era and the Caravaggio movement.

Drawn directly from surviving Roman court transcripts, the production recounts Gentileschi’s gruelling seven-month trial following her assault – a story of truth, betrayal, resilience and triumph. In a story that brings together history, myth, and contemporary commentary, NAĦLIFLEK sheds light on the woman behind the paintings that defined a generation.

For the very first time, Artemisia’s story will be performed in Maltese, featuring the talents of Kim Dalli, Clare Agius, and Sarah-Lee Zammit. The play will be staged inside the Our Lady of the Pilar Church in Valletta, offering audiences an intimate and unique setting for this production.

Alongside its leading cast, NAĦLIFLEK also features the artistic contributions of Claire Tonna and Analise Mifsud, with a translation by Kim Dalli and production by Daniel Azzopardi.

Performances will run from Friday 17th October to Sunday 26th October, with English surtitles on Sunday 19th October and Friday 24th October. Tickets are available now via showshappening.com.
