Michela might just take home the title tomorrow (according to YouTube at least)

Tomorrow’s Eurovision final just got a little more interesting, as Google and YouTube might know who will win the Eurovision 2019 – or so they think. And well... Malta just might have a shot.

Tech giant Google has examined searches for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest participants to see who is attracting most interest, giving it a good idea as to where most votes might go. But, to make it fair, Google has excluded search interest from a competing country’s own citizens. So basically, all of us Maltese eagerly reading up on Michela and continuously listening to Chameleon doesn’t count.

According to Google, the top spot is almost certainly going to Duncan Laurence who is representing The Netherlands with his power ballad Arcade. YouTube on the other hand, thinks that Michela will take the cake. Ranking all views from all videos of the Eurovision entries, Malta sits at second place behind Italy’s Soldi by Mahmood, and is followed by The Netherlands.

YouTube also revealed that Malta is looking likely to take the biggest share of votes, being backed by countries like Italy, Cyprus, Great Britain, Portugal, Denmark, Croatia, and Norway. YouTube also predicted that a big part of Europe (and obvs the Aussies) will be giving Malta the douze points – every Eurovision Song Contest participant’s dream.

We can’t wait to see Michela hit the stage during the final, but until then, we'll be warming up our pipes to sing along to Chameleon, waving that Maltese flag and (obviously) eating comfort food all night, because this competition is INTENSE.
