It was announced in this morning's press conference.
Malta will be opening another two swabbing centres dedicated to rapid testing, Deputy PM and Health Minister Chris Fearne announced in this morning's press conference.
One of the two new centres will be located at Boffa Hospital while the other will be in the north of the island. As yet the location of the second centre has not been annouced.
The minister noted that for now, rapid testing will be reserved for healthcare workers, those working with the elderly and the airport. Schools will also be having this sort of testing soon, he said.
About 1,000 rapid tests are expected to be done on the daily, Fearne continued, noting that 20,000 testing kits arrived on the islands yesterday and another 50,000 are expected next week. Currently, Malta has six COVID-19 swabbing centres: Mater Dei, Pembroke, Luqa, Burmarrad, Gozo and Qormi.
