As from tomorrow, Tuesday 22nd December, those travelling from the UK will have to undergo a 14-day quarantine period once they land in Malta due to the current strain of the virus the UK is experiencing.

The Health Ministry reported noted that this decision is temporary and discussions to have a united EU position are ongoing.

Such a decision that Malta has adopted isn’t a drastic move as countries like Italy, Belgium, France and the Netherlands banned travel from the UK over the weekend.

The European Medicines Agency is expected to grant a vaccine authorisation today with Prime Minister Robert Abela stating that as of 27th December, the population start receiving the jab as the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine will arrive in Malta on 26th December.
