Malta has once again claimed the top spot in the ILGA-Europe Rainbow Index, officially making it the most LGBTIQ+ inclusive country in Europe for a record-breaking tenth year in a row.
For an entire decade, Malta has been leading the way when it comes to equality and inclusion, with a string of progressive laws, policies and community initiatives that continue to set the standard across the continent.
One major update is that Malta now recognises non-binary people on legal documents, giving everyone the right to be officially acknowledged for who they are. It's a big step towards visibility and dignity for all members of the community.
There have also been some game-changing additions to Malta’s social support system. ‘Dar il-Qawsalla’, for example, is a new community home offering safe, semi-independent accommodation for LGBTIQ+ individuals going through tough times or facing housing issues.
There’s also the newly launched LGBTIQ+ Wellbeing Hub – a dedicated space that provides free psychological and social support to people in the community and their families. It’s all about creating a safer, more inclusive space where everyone feels they belong.

Well done to everyone involved in this progress!
