Looking fine! St John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta receives replica of its 75-year-old timber lantern
It seems like St John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta has received some TLC in one particular – and utterly important – department. Vassallo Joiners, a local furnishing company, said on Facebook that they were responsible for the replacement of an integral part of the cathedral.
“We were recently entrusted with the replacement of the 75 year old timber lantern at St John’s Cathedral in Valletta,” they said in their post, sharing photos of the new creation.
“The purpose of this lantern is to shed natural light onto the Oratory which holds the very prestigious Caravaggio painting of the beheading of St John the Baptist.”
“The new, solid Iroko lantern, which is an exact replica of the old one, was manufactured by our carpenters to a top level of craftsmanship.” What a beauty!
Well done to those involved!
