July’s heating up! Malta & Gozo to hit 37°C next week with real feel temps of 41°C
Get ready for a scorcher!

Francesca Vella

As we sail through mid-July, the islands of Malta and Gozo are gearing up for some seriously warm waves, with temperatures expected to climb well into the high 30s next week.

While the coming days up to the weekend will stay relatively manageable – with highs around 34°C and some welcome cloud cover – things will start to intensify by Sunday, 20th July. Despite the actual temperature sitting at around 34°C, high humidity levels will push the real feel up to a sweltering 38°C.

But that’s just the warm-up – literally! Starting Monday 21st July, the mercury will be rising even further, with temperatures reaching 36°C, and then peaking at 37°C on Tuesday 22nd July. Thanks to the growing humidity, the real feel temperature will soar to an intense 41°C – making it one of the hottest days of the year so far.

The good news is that winds from the west are expected to roll in on Tuesday, reaching a maximum of force 5 and offering some relief from the heat.

Heat not really your thing? Here are some tips for staying cool during the heatwave:

  • Stay indoors or in shaded areas during the hottest hours: 11am to 4pm
  • Stay hydrated – drink plenty of water throughout the day
  • Wear light clothing, sunglasses and a hat when outdoors
  • Keep an eye on vulnerable family members, pets, and little ones – they might need some extra support surviving the heat

As always, summer in Malta is best enjoyed safely – so take care, and maybe start planning those beach or poolside siestas!

Are you enjoying the heat or counting the days till autumn?
