It’s official! Wied Inċita, the valley on the outskirts of Attard and bordering Ħaż-Żebbuġ, is going to get greener.

Less than a year ago, 20,000 square metres of this stunning natural area were opened up for public enjoyment. Now, an extra 7,000 square metres are being added to the park, meaning more space to walk and relax in the Maltese countryside.

Along with new walking trails and picnic spots, the project includes restoration works on old rubble walls to improve safety and preserve the area’s rustic charm. Timber fencing will also be installed to better define the park’s perimeter.

Wied Inċita Park will soon be blooming with a variety of trees and shrubs too! Visitors can look forward to the scents and colours of lavender, rosemary, hibiscus, and fruit trees like oranges, lemons, figs, and pomegranates. To boost local biodiversity, species such as Myrtle, Laurustinus, Carobs, and Chaste Trees will attract birds, insects, and even reptiles, while Holm Oak and Aleppo Pine will provide vital nesting spots.

The extension will also feature a water feature, picnic benches, shade structures, and public convenience facilities, perfect for a weekend outing or an after-work stroll.

Have you ever visited Wied Inċita?
