It’s Greased Lightnin’! ‘Grease’ is hitting the stage at Valletta’s MCC this April
Dust off your leather jackets and warm up those vocal cords, because Grease is heading to Valletta this April!
From Friday 24th to Sunday 26th April, the iconic ‘70s musical will take the stage at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, bringing with it all the slick moves, catchy tunes and high school drama that made it a global favourite.
If you know every word and move to Greased Lightnin’ (and let’s be honest, who doesn’t?), this is your chance to see the catchiest numbers performed live – from the hand-jiving energy of the ensemble pieces to the tender moments that might make you shed a tear or two.
Set at Rydell High, Grease follows the story of Danny Zuko and Sandy: two teenagers from very different worlds who fall in love over the summer. She’s the sweet, wholesome new girl; he’s the confident greaser with a reputation to maintain.
But when Sandy unexpectedly shows up at Danny’s school, reality sets in. Can their summer romance survive the pressures, cliques and expectations of high school life? Or will pride and peer pressure get in the way?
This production being brought to the stage by Masquerade, backed by a strong creative team, including director Anthony Bezzina, musical director Kris Spiteri and choreographer Valerie Burke. Set design is by Romualdo Moretti, costume design by Simona Mamo and sound design by Sergio Costa, all working together to recreate the bold, colourful world of 1950s America on stage.
Taking on the leading roles are Raphael Pace as Danny Zuko and Nina Galea as Sandy, alongside Gianluca Mifsud as Kenickie, Jasmine Farrugia as Rizzo, Nadine Cachia as Frenchy, Ryan Grech as Doody and Jason Scerri as Vince Fontaine/Teen Angel. They’re joined by Hannah Gatt as Patty Simcox, Martina Cuschieri as Jan, Michela Galea as Marty, Sean Azzopardi as Roger and Katherine Brown as Miss Lynch.
