Here’s why you might spot emergency vehicles around Malta International Airport on 24th June
There's no need for concern!

Francesca Vella

Malta International Airport has announced that it will be holding a full-scale emergency training exercise on the morning of Tuesday 24th June 2025 (tomorrow), as part of routine safety and preparedness measures.

The exercise is set to bring together a number of national stakeholders and emergency response teams, simulating a real-life crisis scenario to test the airport’s emergency procedures, communication systems, and response coordination.

Such drills are a standard part of international aviation safety protocols and are carried out in line with European and international regulations. Their aim is to ensure that if a real emergency were ever to occur, every team involved is fully equipped and trained to respond quickly, efficiently, and safely.

The public is being advised that increased activity around the airport perimeter – including the presence of emergency vehicles – is part of the planned exercise and not a cause for concern.

If you’re travelling on the day, there’s no need to worry – this simulation will not impact flights or passenger journeys in any way.

Do you have travel plans tomorrow?

23rd June 2025
