As Holy Week approaches, according to an update posted by Maltese Islands Weather, Malta is set to experience a mix of weather conditions, with mostly fine days followed by a brief unsettled spell before improving again for the Easter weekend.

Our Lady of Sorrows and Palm Sunday

The week begins under the influence of a high-pressure system over the central Mediterranean, bringing generally fine and dry weather across the islands.

Winds will be light to moderate and variable in direction, offering pleasant conditions for outdoor religious events and processions. No rainfall is expected during this period.

From late Sunday 13th to early Thursday 17th April

A shift in weather is forecast as a low-pressure system over North Africa begins to influence the region. During this time, skies will become overcast at times, with hazy conditions caused by fine desert sand carried over by the wind.

The wind will pick up significantly, becoming strong and gusty from the southeast. Scattered showers are possible, and they may carry sand, leading to dusty rain.

Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday

By Thursday, the high pressure is expected to return, bringing back clearer skies and warmer temperatures just in time for the most solemn days of Holy Week.

While forecasts will be confirmed closer to the date, there is currently a high probability of fine weather for Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Saturday, and Easter Sunday - ideal for both religious observances and family gatherings.
