Help! Malta’s only horse rescue launches funding page as they risk losing stables
Say it ain’t so! These poor horses may lose their home as Malta’s only horse rescue NGO, RMJ’s Horse Rescue, may lose their stables as the landlord is upping the monthly rent fee, one which they cannot keep up with.

The registered voluntary organisation has been paying €2,200 a month to a farmer for the use of the Salini stables, which is currently home to 30 horses.
In a recent Facebook post, RMJ Horse Rescue said, “We now have the daunting task of trying to sort out a place for our horses until the rent finishes assuming we are not made to leave before.” That’s the saddest thing we’ve heard all week.

“We were Malta’s only horse rescue and not only are we worried sick about what is going to happen to the horses currently in our care but also the many, many horses who will retire of the track and be sent straight for slaughter without getting a second chance.” Now, that’s just cruel and heart breaking!

Locals have been touched (and enraged) by the whole ordeal and have expressed support both verbally as well as through the GoGetFunding page that was set up. In a update that the NGO shared hours ago, they said, “we cannot begin to explain how much we appreciate everyone’s support at this time. In the meantime, we need to pay feed bills to be able to care for our horses so we are launching this fundraiser to be able to cover feed while we continue working to find a solution.”
