Heading to Birgu’s Museums by Candlelight? Here’s what you need to know
Traditional Dgħajjes tal-Pass will operate between Valletta and Birgu throughout the evening

Birgu is gearing up for one of its most atmospheric nights of the year, when three historic sites will be illuminated by around 15,000 candles.

Planning ahead will make everything less stressful!

Multiple ways to get there. If you would like to take the scenic route, the Valletta–Bormla ferry and Barrakka Lift will run until midnight, while Upper Barrakka Gardens will remain open to facilitate access.

Traditional Dgħajjes tal-Pass will continue to operate between Valletta and Birgu throughout the evening.

If you want to travel by car, parking is available at Fortini Ground in Birgu. If you catch a cab, you will receive a discount code for Bolt, Uber and eCabs if you book your tickets by noon on 17th April.

From 7:00pm until midnight on 18th April, Fort St Angelo, the Inquisitor’s Palace and, for the first time ever, St Lawrence Church and Museum will open their doors under the glow of thousands of candles.

Carefully placed along steps, ledges and doorways, their warm flicker brings out the textures of stone, the details of passageways, and the unique character of each space. Wandering through Birgu becomes part of the magic.

Will you attend this magical event?
