GuideMeMalta's Great Christmas Countdown with... Ira Losco
In the final instalment of our festive interviews, Malta's sweetheart shares her thoughts about the holidays.

Joanna Demarco

For Ira, Christmas is..

"Christmas is a time where I can see my family more often than usual. I love the festive season, even though it’s terribly busy when you’re an artist! However, it’s the season where I get to see a lot of my family and friends so that’s a real treat."

And this year, she'll be spending it with her little man

"Usually, Sean and I stay in on Christmas Eve and then we do lunch at his parents and tea at my parents. This year, however, Sean will be busy with his Christmas Breakfast at his eatery so I’m spending Christmas Eve at home with Harry. I’m going to prepare a glass of milk and cookies and some chopped carrots and explain to him that if we stay up long enough we can maybe catch a glimpse of Father Christmas leaving his presents under our tree."

Ira's Christmas traditions

"I do Secret Santa with my girlfriends and my old school friends which is fun. Christmas lunch has been held at my parents' house ever since I was a child. I love walking into my parents' house to the gorgeous scent of freshly baked bread and sitting down to a hearty roast, drinking wine and having a laugh with my aunts and cousins."

What's her favourite part of the day?

"All day is fun! I love stuffing my belly with delicious food, and tea time is always great. My dad has his own retro sound system, which he’s very proud of might I add! All the cousins dance to '80s music all afternoon."

Ira's best Christmas present so far was...

"My parents once got me a mini amplifier and microphone on a stand. It was as if I’d won the lottery. Another memorable gift was one my uncle gave me, a Casio Sampler. I would always ask for instruments. I was obsessed with becoming a singer/songwriter."

What will she be doing this New Year’s Eve?

"I will be playing live with my band in our beautiful city, Valletta. I’m very excited to be closing off this year on stage!"

How about New Years Resolutions? Will she be making any?

"I never make any as I find it hard to stick to them. However, I look to the next year with great anticipation and I always have a clear plan of what I want to achieve."

"Happiness is the greatest gift of all, as is peace of mind. I’ve got a lot of new singles and videos due to be released off my second album No Sinner No Saint, and a lot of other projects to embark on. I’m looking forward to them!"
