Maltese photographer Darrin Zammit Lupi has stirred up some excitement after sharing a gorgeous shot of Gozo’s Fungus Rock, foregrounded by a clapperboard from the upcoming BBC drama, ‘Two Weeks in August’.

Captioning the image, Darrin wrote, ‘First shot released from the BBC production “Two Weeks in August”, currently shooting in Gozo. It's nice to see it being pretty widely used.’

And widely used it certainly is! The image has gained international attention, even making its way onto Huffington Post, which described Two Weeks in August as ‘the BBC’s answer to The White Lotus’. This comparison alone is enough to intrigue fans of the hit HBO comedy-drama!

This original eight-part drama series comes from the award-winning team behind ‘I May Destroy You’, and follows a woman who embarks on a holiday with family and friends, hoping to rediscover joy in her life. However, what begins with an innocent kiss soon spirals into something much darker, turning paradise into a nightmare.

Although the series is set in Greece, Gozo’s crystal-clear waters, rugged cliffs, and picturesque landscapes are proving to be the perfect backdrop.

With filming underway, excitement is building for what could be the next big must-watch series. Will ‘Two Weeks in August’ live up to the White Lotus comparisons? Time will tell, but one thing is certain – Gozo will be shining in the background!

Excited to see what this series will be bringing to your TV screen?
