A Google Street View car has been spotted driving around the streets of Malta and Gozo.
As its name indicates, such vehicles drive all over the world equipped with a 360-degree camera in order to capture images for Google’s Street View and Google Maps.
These images are matched to the geographic location of where they were taken by combining signals from the car’s sensors, which use GPS and measure its speed and direction.

The car periodically updates its data, and an update is indeed due since Street View’s introduction to the Maltese Islands dates back to 2016. Numerous streets and establishments have changed since then.
Sightings of the vehicle during its current tour date back to last week, with some seeing it in Mosta as well as in Mellieħa.
Have you seen the Google Street View Car?
