Music lovers are in for an unforgettable artistic journey as the Gozo Youth Wind Band & Orchestra prepares to launch an exciting series of three major musical events scheduled for July, September and November 2026.

Under the artistic leadership of its founder and Music Director, Mro Dr Joseph Grech, the organisation continues its mission of bringing high-quality musical productions to audiences in Gozo and beyond.

The season opens with the much-anticipated 18th edition of Opera vs Pop Under the Stars on Monday 27th July at 8.30pm, a summer favourite that successfully blends the elegance of opera with the energy and appeal of contemporary popular music.

The concert will feature the Gozo Youth Orchestra under the direction of Mro Dr Joseph Grech and will bring together an exceptional cast of renowned singers. Leading the programme will be Pamela Cibrano, Ludwig Galea and Noel Galea, joined by guest artists Graziella DeBattista, Fabian Galea and Rachel Fabri.

Set against the beautiful backdrop of the Ministry for Gozo’s Courtyard, this enchanting open-air concert promises a memorable evening of musical excellence beneath the summer sky.

Following the success of previous editions, the Gozo Youth Wind Band returns with the 11th edition of Stage and Proms on the Sea, happening on Monday 14th September at 8.30pm; an event that has become one of Gozo’s most distinctive musical celebrations.

Featuring the Gozo Youth Wind Band and guest vocalists Neville Refalo and Clara Sciberras, the concert will present a vibrant repertoire of stage favourites, proms classics and popular melodies in a spectacular seaside atmosphere.

Concluding the season is what promises to be one of the most spectacular musical productions ever staged in Gozo at the Aurora Theatre. 

Following its highly successful performance at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta in March 2026, the Gozo Youth Orchestra, in collaboration with 7SPP, proudly presents The Golden Age of ABBA and Boney M at the Aurora Theatre on Saturday 21st November at 7.30pm

This large-scale production will feature an impressive ensemble consisting of a 60-piece orchestra, two rock bands and a 20-piece backing choir, recreating the timeless hits that defined a generation.

Audiences will enjoy performances by an outstanding line-up of singers including Dorothy Bezzina, Sarah Bonnici, Klinsmann Coleiro, Neville Refalo, Francesco Nicodeme and Amelia Kalabic. They will be joined by guest artists Cassie Gold, Dorothy Borg Bonnici, Natassja Chapman, Jessica Magro and Sean Kamati.

The concert promises a nostalgic celebration of the music of ABBA and Boney M, combining symphonic grandeur with the infectious energy of some of the world’s most beloved pop classics.
