Let there be music! Mellieħa’s annual concert returns for the feast of Our Lady of Victories
Music, tradition and celebration will once again come together in Mellieħa on Tuesday, 1st September, as the Maria Bambina Choral and Orchestral Society hosts its annual musical concert in honour of the Feast of Our Lady of Victories.
Held every year since 1992, the concert has become one of the most anticipated musical highlights of the feast, attracting audiences with a programme that blends classical and modern music in a lively evening of entertainment.

Organised in collaboration with the Mellieħa Local Council, this year’s concert will take place at 8.30pm in the Parish Square. Under the direction of Musical Director Mro Michael Bonanno and hosted by Mark Laurence Zammit, the evening will feature the Society’s choir and orchestra alongside a line-up of guest performers.
Ludwig Galea, Francesca Sciberras and Emanuel Rapa will take to the stage, while Artemocion Dance and Leisure Studio will present dance performances. The programme will also include a spectacular appearance by fire juggler Justin Micallef.
Set against the traditional decorations of the feast, the concert promises a varied programme designed to appeal to audiences of all ages and musical tastes. Admission will be free of charge.

Beyond the annual concert, the Maria Bambina Choir and Orchestra also plays a central role in the feast’s liturgical music, performing during Vespers and Mass at the Mellieħa Parish Church. Much of this repertoire reflects the Society’s musical heritage, including compositions by former Musical Director Mro Carmel Muscat, alongside antiphons by Muscat, Mro Vincenzo Ciappara and Aronne Sultana.
Through its continued musical contribution, the Society remains an important part of Mellieħa’s cultural and festive traditions.
