From calm days to coastal tornadoes: Here’s a weather recap of April 2025 in Malta
April 2025 brought a mix of calm weather and dramatic moments across Malta and Gozo, marking the second month of meteorological spring with slightly cooler and drier-than-average conditions.
According to Facebook page, It-Temp Madwarna, across the Maltese Islands, average temperatures dipped just below the seasonal norm. The average maximum temperature for the month stood at 20.4°C, nearly 1°C lower than the climatic average of 21.3°C.

Rainfall was scarce, with only four rainy days recorded out of 30. Gozo reached average monthly totals, primarily due to a severe thunderstorm on 29th April. Thunderstorms were also reported on the 1st of April, which also brought hail and rare tornado sightings over the sea. Another hail event occurred later in the month.
Winds were predominantly from the west-northwest, although the strongest gust, a force 8, came from the southeast on 14th April. Calm conditions on some days led to early morning fog.
Overall, April 2025 was relatively quiet in terms of weather, but not without its moments of atmospheric drama.
